Welcome to Team Intrepid's Science Fair Blog. On this site you will find everything you need to complete a successful science fair project. All of the information included on the blog has been given to you in class. We will work through the process step by step. Refer to the buttons below to help you meet each deadline.
Trifolds are due by Monday, April 30. The logbook must be checked before students assemble their trifold boards.
Students signed up for their final presentations. Click on the button below that corresponds to your science block to see the date you present. On the day of your presentation, you will bring your trifold board to school.
Remember to turn in your logbook to have it checked before you create your trifold board. Follow the rubric!!
When creating your Logbook, here are some helpful hints:
1. The conclusion should state, "My hypothesis was correct/incorrect because_____________________."
2. Application - Take what you learned and apply it to a new situation in everyday life.
Ex. If your experiment tests ice melt on ice cubes, then identify which ice melt will melt the snow that is
on your driveway the best.
3. When you write your Reflections, think of this list:
Problem - Choosing your topic
Research - How does it relate to what you learned in the experiment? What did you learn?
Slides
During the Experiment - What went right? What went wrong? What was easy? What was hard? for you to
complete.
Logbook
Things you would change about the experiment and how you carried it out
Application - How will you use what you learned in an everyday situation?
Who helped you?
List the things you liked and did not like about the Science Fair.
4. Your data should be organized in a table, not a graph. The graph will be on your trifold board.

It is time to begin testing your hypothesis. A letter was sent home in the Friday Folder on March 16, 2018. The letter was sent to inform parents that students may begin testing their hypothesis. The buttons below show information that was shared with students in class to help them organize the logbook and trifold board.
Remember: The logbook must be checked before you create the trifold board.

The due date for Question 1 is February 23, 2018. This includes finding three reliabe sources of information, paraphrasing the research on three 1/2 sheets of paper, and creating three slides in the presentation.
The due date for Question 2 is March 1, 2018. This includes finding three reliable sources of information, paraphrasing the research on three 1/2 sheets of paper, and creating three slides in the presentation.
The due date for Question 3 is March 9, 2018. This includes finding three reliable sources of information, paraphrasing the research on three 1/2 sheets of paper, and creating three slides in the presentation.
All prewrite information will be collect by Wednesday, March 14. Refer to the rubric below. Click on the red button that says "Prewrite Rubric" to print another copy.

In February, we will research our science fair topics.
Be sure to write the three questions you want to answer about your topic.
We will use the following format:
1. Question: How does the heart work?
Copy web address: http://kidshealth.org/en/kids/heart.html
Copy the information from the article that you will use to answer the question.
Your heart is really a muscle. It's located a little to the left of the middle of your chest, and it's about the size of your fist. There are lots of muscles all over your body — in your arms, in your legs, in your back, even in your behind.
But the heart muscle is special because of what it does. The heart sends blood around your body. The blood provides your body with the oxygen and nutrients it needs. It also carries away waste.
Your heart is sort of like a pump, or two pumps in one. The right side of your heart receives blood from the body and pumps it to the lungs. The left side of the heart does the exact opposite: It receives blood from the lungs and pumps it out to the body.
You must have at least three reliable sources listed under each question.
After we gather the information, we will begin summarizing and paraphrasing the facts to create a Prezi or Google Slide Show.
It's time to submit your Science Fair idea! Click on the button to the left if you need another Inquiry form. The form is due on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.
